That's why they chose Bicarbonate of Soda as a grain instead of normal salt. Normal conventional salts are going to imbalance the pH of the skin. The Hydro Thermal Exfoliant also contains Zeolite, a negatively charged compound with a cage-like structure, which acts like a magnet to attract positively charged toxins to the Zeolite.
