Which Nail Liquids Do You Need?

The Complete I.Am Nail Systems Guide

A professional nail treatment starts with more than just the right gel, acrylic or gel polish. The right liquids also play an important role. From preparing the natural nail and improving adhesion to cleaning, removing and sculpting acrylic and acrygel, each step requires the right product.

But which liquid should you use and when? And what is the difference between a primer, bonder, cleanser and remover?

In this guide, we explain the different liquids from I.Am Nail Systems and exactly what each product is designed for.

1. Blue Scrub – Cleanse & Dehydrate

Proper preparation of the natural nail is the foundation of every professional nail treatment. I.Am Blue Scrub is a natural nail cleanser and dehydrator used during the prep stage.

Blue Scrub removes dirt and excess moisture from the natural nail, helping to create the ideal surface for the next step of your treatment.

Use Blue Scrub to:

  • Clean the natural nail

  • Remove moisture and surface oils

  • Prepare the nail before applying a nail product

  • Create an optimal base for the following prep steps

2. Air Dry Bonder – Improve Adhesion

I.Am Air Dry Bonder is an acid-free primer designed to improve adhesion between the natural nail and the nail product.

A bonder is especially useful when you want to create strong and long-lasting adhesion. Air Dry Bonder dries naturally and forms an important step between nail preparation and product application.

Use Air Dry Bonder to:

  • Improve adhesion

  • Prepare the natural nail

  • Help reduce the risk of lifting

  • Support adhesion in acrylic and other nail systems

3. Acid Free Primer – Extra Adhesion

I.Am Acid Free Primer is an acid-free adhesion primer designed to create a strong connection between the natural nail and the nail system.

Because it is acid-free, it provides strong adhesion without using an acid-based primer.

Use Acid Free Primer to:

  • Improve adhesion

  • Prepare the natural nail

  • Support acrylic applications

  • Add extra adhesion when needed

Air Dry Bonder or Acid Free Primer?

Although both products support adhesion, they are not exactly the same.

Air Dry Bonder is an acid-free bonder designed to improve adhesion, while Acid Free Primer is an acid-free primer specifically used as an adhesion step.

Always follow the recommended application steps for the nail system you are using.

4. Acrygel Liquid – Sculpt & Shape Acrygel

Working with Acrygel? Then you need a liquid specifically designed to help you shape and control the product.

I.Am Acrygel Liquid is used to moisten your Acrygel Tool, allowing you to smoothly and precisely distribute the Acrygel over the nail.

It provides enough working time to create precise shapes, including a clean smile line and a beautiful C-curve.

Use Acrygel Liquid to:

  • Sculpt and shape Acrygel

  • Create a precise C-curve

  • Create a clean smile line

  • Control the application of Acrygel

  • Work on natural nails, tips or forms

Important: Acrygel Liquid is not the same as acrylic monomer. It is specifically designed for working with Acrygel.

5. Monomer – The Liquid for Acrylic

When working with traditional acrylic, you combine acrylic powder with liquid monomer. Together, these create the workable acrylic bead used to build and sculpt the nail.

I.Am Nail Systems offers two monomers: Monomer Original and Monomer Tempo.

Monomer Original

I.Am Monomer Original has a medium setting time. This gives you more time to work and shape the product, making it suitable for students as well as nail technicians who prefer a little more working time.

It is a great option when control and working time are important.

Monomer Tempo

I.Am Monomer Tempo has a faster setting time and is designed for experienced nail technicians and professionals who prefer to work quickly.

The choice between Original and Tempo mainly depends on your working speed and experience.

In short:

Original → more working time
Tempo → faster setting

Both monomers are designed to be used with I.Am Acrylic Powder as part of a professional acrylic system.

6. Universal Cleanser – Clean & Prepare

I.Am Universal Cleanser is a versatile liquid with multiple uses during a professional nail treatment.

A cleanser can be used to clean the nail surface and remove product residue during different stages of the treatment.

Universal Cleanser can also be used with Acrygel. After curing Acrygel, the remaining sticky layer can be removed with I.Am Universal Cleanser.

Use Universal Cleanser to:

  • Clean the nail surface

  • Remove product residue

  • Remove the sticky layer after curing certain gels

  • Support different steps of a professional nail treatment

7. UV Cleanser – Remove the Sticky Layer

I.Am UV Cleanser is formulated for cleaning gel and fiber systems. It removes the inhibition layer after curing without unnecessarily dulling the surface.

This makes UV Cleanser an important step when working with gels that leave a sticky layer after curing.

Use UV Cleanser to:

  • Remove the sticky layer

  • Clean gel and fiber systems

  • Prepare the surface for the finishing steps

  • Achieve a clean and professional result

Universal Cleanser vs. UV Cleanser

Both products are cleansers, but UV Cleanser is specifically designed for gel and fiber systems and for removing the inhibition layer.

If you are working with I.Am Gel or Fiber Gel, UV Cleanser is an ideal choice for this step.

8. Soak Off Gel Remover – Soak Off Gel Products

When a soak-off product needs to be removed, it is important to use a suitable remover.

I.Am Soak Off Gel Remover is a specially formulated, lightly fragranced liquid designed for removing soak-off nail products.

9. Acetone – For Removing Suitable Soak-Off Products

I.Am Acetone is a solvent used for removing suitable soak-off artificial nail products.

Acetone is a stronger solvent and therefore has a different purpose from a regular cleanser.

Use Acetone to:

  • Remove suitable soak-off artificial nail products

  • Dissolve product residue that is suitable for acetone removal

  • Support removal procedures where acetone is recommended

Acetone or Soak Off Gel Remover?

The main difference is their intended use.

Soak Off Gel Remover is specifically formulated for soaking off suitable soak-off gel products.

Acetone is a solvent that can be used for different artificial nail products that are suitable for acetone removal.

Always check the removal instructions of the product you are working with.

10. Cuticle Remover Gel – Prepare the Cuticles

Professional nail prep starts with a properly prepared nail surface. I.Am Cuticle Remover Gel helps loosen and remove excess cuticle from around the nail.

This makes it easier to create a clean nail plate before starting your nail treatment.

Use Cuticle Remover Gel to:

  • Loosen excess cuticle

  • Prepare the nail during a manicure

  • Create a clean nail plate

  • Create a neat base for the following product steps

A thorough cuticle prep helps create a clean application and allows you to work close to the cuticle without applying product directly onto the skin.
